After a previous plan was met with concerns, a revised proposal to repaint Estero, FL’s Hertz Arena deemphasizes bold yellow colors in favor of a more subdued look.
In September, Estero-based Hertz and hockey’s Florida Everblades (ECHL) announced a new naming-rights agreement to rename the team’s home Hertz Arena. To bolster its brand’s presence on the facility, the car rental company had proposed an elaborate Hertz Arena exterior paint job that placed a heavy emphasis on the yellow colors used its branding. Various officials and residents expressed concerns about that design when it was first presented earlier this fall, contending that it was too bold and did not meet Village of Estero standards. The company is now pitching an altered design, and is seeking approval from the Village of Estero’s Design Review Board.
The revised Hertz Arena paint job concept features less yellow, and calls for mixing in the color with gray (rendering above). Hertz, which said that it took feedback about the previous proposal under consideration when making the changes, will present the revised plan at an Estero Design Review Board meeting on December 12. More from the Naples Daily News:
In a company statement, Hertz said it revised its design based on the feedback from neighboring communities and the Design Review Board.
“As part of that process, we’ve partnered with a local architect to help us with the design,” the company stated. “We’ve also reached out to the neighborhoods in close proximity to Hertz Arena for their input on the new direction of the design.”
In a phone interview Monday, Thomas Barber, a Design Review board member, said he hadn’t seen Hertz’s latest rendering so he didn’t know any of the details.
“I’d rather not comment on it until the meeting,” he said.
Hertz Arena replaced the Germain Arena branding that had been in place since 2004, when Germain Automotive Group agreed to facility naming rights.
