New for 2018-19: Stockton Kings

Sacramento Kings

To reflect their move to a new city, the Reno Bighorns will be renamed the Stockton Kings for the 2018-19 NBA Gatorade League season and beyond.

Last week, it was announced that the Sacramento Kings were moving forward with a plan to relocate the G League’s Bighorns to Stockton Arena in Stockton, CA. That process took a major step forward on Tuesday, when the name change was announced and the Stockton City Council unanimously approved the team’s lease for Stockton Arena.

As part of the name change, the team has unveiled a new website–StocktonKings.com-along with new social media channels. The lineup of social media channels includes Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. While the Kings have unveiled a new name, they are holding off until later in the spring to release new logos and branding, according to a press release.

Stockton is the latest announcement of a rebrand that will take effect for the 2018-19 G League season. To coincide with their move to a new facility in Wilmington, the Delaware 87ers will become the Delaware Blue Coats. There is also new branding that will enter the league via expansion, as the Washington Wizards’ Capital City Go-Go are set to begin play this fall.
