Despite extensive damage from a tornado that saw the roof lifted off the place, Yellowstone County officials say they’ll launch a plan to rebuilt Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings.
The tornado, which ripped through the area on June 20, took the roof off the 12,000-seat arena and caused extensive damage, to the point where officials were talking about tearing down the facility. However, subsequent inspections showed the bones of the arena to be in solid shape, clearing the way for a renovation. Rimrock Auto Arena is home to the IFL’s Billings Outlaws as well as numerous concerts and other events.
Hulteng CCM was hired today by Yellowstone County to oversee the reconstruction process; it sounds like they will be hiring an architect and construction firm to work on renovations as well.
