Dickies Arena Grand Opening Approaching

Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena will soon open its doors, as venue officials prepare for its grand opening next weekend.

Construction has been taking place over the last few years for Dickies Arena, an indoor venue located on a site adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center campus. The arena has been billed as a venue that will host a variety of events, ranging from Fort Worth Stock Show rodeo performances and concerts, to college sports games and tournaments.

Dickies Arena is approaching a major milestone, as it is scheduled to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening on Saturday, October 26. Leading up to that event, president and general manager Matt Homan is touting the variety of events Dickies Arena will host, while nearby business owners are anticipating the economic impact it could have. Soon the city’s newest landmark will host between 140 and 150 events a year, according to Homan. From the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, to concerts, like twenty one pilots on Nov. 8,Jingle Ball and even women’s gymnastics. 

“We’re also going to have USC play TCU in men’s basketball here at the arena,” he said.

“I’ll take any business that they bring to us and more people to our area,” said Lanny Lancarte II, the owner and executive chef at Righteous Foods. 

Per its website, Dickies Arena will offer a seating capacity of up to 14,000 for concerts, while seating 13,300 for basketball, 12,200 for hockey and family shows, and 9,300 for rodeo performances.  The NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships will be hosted at Dickies Arena from 2020-2022, with NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second round action coming in 2022, and American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championships from 2020-2022.
