2021 G League season to be held at Disney bubble

NBA G LeagueThe 2021 G League season is tentatively set to be played in a Disney World bubble, with 18 teams set to participate under the same system as the NBA at the end of the 2019-2020 season.

This is not breaking news: outlets like ESPN have been reporting on the possibility of a Disney 2021 G League season for a few weeks now, so what’s really happening is leaking of the specifics.

We’re talking a shorted season here, running between 12 and 15 games, followed by playoffs. Though some G League teams are already practicing, the goal will be full reporting by Jan. 19, teams traveling to Orlando on Jan. 26 and the season commencing Feb. 8. Games will be played across the three venues of ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. Not every G League team is participating; with a cost of upwards of $500,000 for each team participating, some NBA teams are passing on the Disney 2021 plan.
