In what’s likely to be a placeholder until a new naming-rights deal is finalized, Talking Stick Resort Arena is now PHX Arena after the expiration of the previous deal with the casino.
This is not a surprise; we reported two weeks ago that a name change was in the works, after the local casino resort announced it was passing on a renewal of naming rights for Talking Stick Resort Arena.
It’s another in a set of changes for the home of the Phoenix Suns (NBA) and Phoenix Mercury (WNBA), which has undergone some serious renovations this offseason. The first wave of renovations to the arena will come online in December, when the 2020-2021 NBA season launches. (You can read our preview of the 2020-2021 arena renovations here.)
The arena had previously been called America West Arena and US Airways Center and became Talking Stick Resort Arena at the start of the 2015-16 season.
