Henderson Silver Knights uniforms, practice facility unveiled

We have some AHL news out of Las Vegas, as Henderson Silver Knights uniforms were unveiled and the team’s practice facility, Lifeguard Arena, opened to the public.

By Vegas standards, these are not especially flashy uniforms, though they do feature an expanded color palette (according to the team, six colors are represented: White, Henderson Metallic Silver, Henderson Silver, Vegas Gray, Black and Vegas Metallic Gold). Like everything with the Silver Knights, the Henderson Silver Knights uniforms are positioned as a complement to team owner and parent, the Vegas Golden Knights.

A day later the Silver Knights and Henderson opened Lifeguard Arena to the public. The 120,500-square-foot facility expands the Golden Knights’ footprint throughout the Las Vegas area: besides the high-profile T-Mobile Arena on the Strip, the Golden Knights also maintain a practice facility in suburban Summerlin. Lifeguard Arena, on the other side of town, is designed as the practice facility and team offices for the Silver Knights, as well as a community resource with open skating and youth games. From the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

It should give the Silver Knights one of the AHL’s best facilities. It will allow the Golden Knights to keep expanding their youth programs. And it should give Water Street in Henderson a huge boost as the city tries to revive the surrounding district.

“As far as NHL standards, it’s right there,” Silver Knights coach Manny Viveiros said of the $26 million building. “Our facility, our dressing room for the players, medical room, coaches’ room, video room, it’s all on par with NHL standards.”

Lifeguard Arena is similar to the Knights’ practice facility in Summerlin, City National Arena. Both have two ice sheets with stands for fans. Both have a team store. And both have a McKenzie River Pizza restaurant, plus a separate coffee shop.

The team will train at Henderson’s Lifeguard Arena and play at Orleans Arena before a move to a renovated Henderson arena for the 2022-2023 season. The Golden Knights had purchased the San Antonio Rampage and relocated it for the 2020-2021 AHL season.
