With a case that includes experience in hosting large events and the use of T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas is planning a pitch to host a future Frozen Four.
Home to the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, T-Mobile Arena has experience in hosting college hockey events through the annual Fortress Invitational (formerly the Ice Vegas Invitational) tournament. The venue could be the setting for a Division I men’s ice hockey Frozen Four in the coming years, as Las Vegas Events plans to submit a bid for the 2023-2026 cycle ahead of next month’s deadline.
For officials involved in the bid, the main selling point for Las Vegas will be its experience in hosting major events. Additionally, T-Mobile Arena’s location on the The Strip puts it in a prominent area that is in close proximity to plenty of hotel rooms, which is seen as another advantage that any Las Vegas bid can offer. More from the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
[Las Vegas Events president Pat] Christenson said Las Vegas Events plans to spotlight Las Vegas as a destination; T-Mobile Arena, adjoining Toshiba Plaza and their proximity to hotel rooms; and his organization’s track record of hosting events. The bid will be submitted before the February deadline for the 2023 to 2026 cycle and an answer is expected by October.
“I don’t know of another city that has an arena this quality and (hotel) rooms this close,” Christenson said. “With something like Toshiba Plaza to connect everybody.”
T-Mobile Arena opened in 2016, with the Golden Knights beginning play as an NHL expansion team at the start of the 2017-18 season.
