Ole Miss discusses new arena

Ole MissOle Miss officials are looking at a replacement for 9,000-seat Tad Smith Coliseum, as the school considers an upgrade to what’s considered the worst basketball facility in the Southeastern Conference.

Ole Miss has looked at upgrading its basketball facilities in the past, but in recent years band-aid solutions were undertaken: for instance, this season a new sound system and videoboard were installed, and earlier this year a new $13-million practice facility opened.

The talk is purely on a preliminary basis: the discussions are tied into new recreational facilities for the enture student body. Still, with enrollment on an uptick, the potential for a new expanded arena seems to have some potential.
