A caller to Manitoba’s 911 line had an unusual request: the return of the Winnipeg Jets to Canada. Oh, and as long as the Mounties were at it, could they bring him some smokes on the way out?
The request came from a Ludnar resident, according to a report in the Winnipeg Free Press, who made a series of calls to 911, mostly centered on requests of the RCMP. The first of the requests: that the RCMP bring the Jets back to Winnipeg.
The requests grew stranger and strangers; at the end of the day he was told he would be brought in for arrest. As long as the Mounties were headed out to Ludnar, he asked, could they bring him some cigarettes?
