AHL announces realignment with addition of Charlotte, Oklahoma City

AHLThe American Hockey League released details of its divisional alignments for the 2010-2011 season following the addition of Charlotte and Oklahoma City and loss of Lowell from the league ranks.

The new Albany Devils will be playing in the East Division, as did the former Albany River Rats, but it’s a shift for the franchise; the former Lowell Devils played in the Atlantic Division last season. The Charlotte Checkers — the former River Rats — will remain in the East Division.

The new Oklahoma City Barons will be playing in the West Division of the Western Conference. The 30-team league now has balance with 15 teams in the Eastern Conference and 15 teams in the Western Conference.
