Another milestone was reached in the development of Wichita's new downtown arena: management company SMG now controls the facility.
The arena is basically done: there is still some small finishing construction to be done, but we suspect it could open fairly soon and crowds will be pleased. SMG will have plenty of time to train the new staff and run through operations: the first event at the place, a Brad Paisley concert, won't occur until Jan. 9 After that the Wichita Thunder (CHL) will make the move from the Kansas Coliseum.
