Ratner has proposed a huge Atlantic Yards project for Brooklyn, an office/residential project that will include a new arena for the New Jersey Nets. The project has been opposed in court by local residents, who say it failed to receive permissions from the city in the proper fashion.
But Ratner has won every legal case opposing the project. His biggest enemy now is financing the multi-billion-dollar development, and while it’s not whether he has the money to implement the entire Frank Gehry-designed complex, he does have money for a $800-million Nets arena. So it’s all systems go — for now.
