Doug Miller and Steve Duchesne, who sport deep roots in the greater Dallas community, will own the Allen (Texas) CHL team set up to play next season in a new arena.
Duchesne is a former Minnesota North Star who made move south when the team shifted operations to Dallas; he played 17 seasons in the NHL. Miller is a local oilman.
The new team will sport some pretty deep affiliations with the Dallas Stars despite its status as a CHL team. It will be the CHL affiliate of the team, giving the Stars a duo of Texas farm teams (Austin is set to enter the AHL as a Dallas farm squad). The team will play at the 6,200-seat Allen Event Center, part of a larger development that includes retail and office space.
