Save Our Sonics supporters will be out in full force tonight to stage a rally at the Rose Garden when the former Sonics, the Oklahoma City Thunder, come to town.
That a rally like this only serves to line the pockets of Portland Trail Blazers ownership is something seemingly lost on the group, however, and we’re not entirely sure exactly why this move is supposed to show the NBA that Seattle is ready for basketball to return. Does a show of green and yellow address the many issues with KeyArena? Does it address the financial problems in the overall economy?
No. But their credit, the SOS folks say this is a last-ditch effort to bring attention to bills in the Washington Legislature that would fund KeyArena improvements. These bills are likely to die without some sort of public outcry.
