The state of Wisconsin will kick in $23 million over 10 years for the ongoing maintenance of Milwaukee’s Bradley Center, home of the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA) and the NCAA’s Marquette Golden Eagles.

The grant was approved yesterday by the leadership of the State Facilities Commission. There are continuing issues with maintenance at Bradley Center, one of the NBA’s oldest arenas (only Madison Square Garden is older). The Bradley family gave enough room to build the place but never addressed the issue of ongoing maintenance. In the early days, maintenance wasn’t an issue; now, thirly years down the line, it is.

Still, there are doubts about the long-term viability of the place, which the grant does not address.
