We’re guessing not many cities would make this deal: to pay off a $600,000 back-rent bill, West Valley City accepted 40 percent of the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies.
CIty officials say they’re no worse off than if they had let the team walk away with an unpaid debt. Perhaps; but now the city is an owner and on the hook for any more losses. And we’re guessing the ECHL folks aren’t too thrilled with municipal ownership.
