Coyotes on the market

Jerry Moyes confirms he’s put the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL) on the market. Not a surprise, really: the team has never drawn well and perpetually posted losses. In fact, despite moving from one of the smallest NHL markets (Winnipeg) to one of the largest, the franchise still draws fewer fans than the Winnipeg Jets did during their heyday.

Right now Moyes and minority owner Wayne Gretzky are looking for outside investors. But given the poor way the franchise has been managed, we’re guessing there aren’t too many "investors" who will throw wads of cash Moyes’ way and expect things to be business as usual. A clean sale is probably the way it will go.
