San Antonio’s AT&T Center is now a greener facility after upgrades to its water system will save 13.2 million gallons of water per year.
At a press conference yesterday, officials with Spurs Sports & Entertainment announced the changes, which came after a $190,000 grant from the San Antonio Water System.
The changes included the installation of high-efficiency toilets and 150 urinals in restrooms, aerating shower heads in the locker rooms and high-efficiency water fixtures throughout the arena. In addition, the arena’s cooling tower will use recycled water. That alone will free up 9 million gallons of drinking water annually.
