The brand-new Bank of Kentucky Center opened Wednesday night with a bang: a near-sellout crowd was on hand for a Carrie Underwood concert.
Underwood, the former American Idol winner now firmly entrenched as a country-music superstar, drew a large crowd to the arena, which will also serve as the home to Northern Kentucky University sports.
Besides hosting the sporting events, the arena will fill a definite need in the area: with a capacity of 6,800 for concerts, it’s smaller than US Bank Arena in downtown Cincinnati and definitely more intimate, with suites at the stage level and a better sound system installed.
