Xcel Energy Center is now Ecolab Science Certified

Xcel Energy Center technology upgrade

A little home cooking in St. Paul, as Xcel Energy Center is now a Ecolab Science Certified facility, adding another certification in these COVID-19 times.

Ecolab is literally headquartered just down the street from the home of the Minnesota Wild (NHL), so the certification makes sense on many levels. But while fans need reassurances that all is safe when returning to venues, Xcel Energy Center becomes the first sports and entertainment venue in the country with this certification.

“The health and safety of our fans and employees is our top priority,” said Xcel Energy Center Vice President and General Manager Jack Larson said in a press release. “That’s why we pursued the Ecolab Science Certified program. We are committed to advancing cleaner, safer, science-based practices in the arena.”

Ecolab’s business focuses on healthcare cleanliness, with that expertise used now extended to public spaces. The Ecolab Science Certified program combines this healthcare expertise with hospital disinfectants and food-contact sanitizers approved for use during the COVID-19 pandemic with public health and food safety protocols and training, and periodic auditing.

“We are proud to be the first NHL team with an arena that has earned the Ecolab Science Certified seal,” said Minnesota Wild President Matt Majka. “Ecolab’s expertise and science-based program show our fans the extra efforts we are taking to help welcome them back with confidence as we head into the playoffs.”
