In a surprising move, Chris Presson has stepped down as general manager of the just-opened Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, citing family reasons for his decision to resign the post.
Presson has a long history in the Wichita market: besides serving as GM of the arena during the final construction phases and its opening, he was general manager of the Wichita Thunder (CHL) for several years and helped launch the Wichita Wingnuts, an independent-league baseball team operating out of Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Basically, the hard work in opening the arena is now done, so in theory the continued maintenance should be less tedious.
SMG manages the facility on behalf of Sedgwick County. The firm said it would hire a replacement from within the current SMG ranks.
