Add Suffolk County to list of communities wooing Isles

If Hempstead doesn't want the New York Islanders and the Lighthouse Project, neighboring Suffolk County is waiting with open arms should owner Charles Wang want to keep his money on the island.

That's the word from Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, who has already met once with representatives of Wang and the Islanders, at their behest.

Levy says there's plenty of land and some development partners who would love to talk new arena.

Suffolk County joins the long list of potential suitors for the Islanders; besides Kansas City, the list includes Brooklyn as well. One issue, however: at this point Wang doesn't seem ready to pull out of the Lighthouse development and the renovation of the Nassau County Memorial Coliseum, as Hempstead officials are still reviewing documents on the proposal.
