Frisco arena expansion gives managers power to attract bigger acts

The expansion of Frisco's Dr Pepper Arena from 3,500 seats to 6,000 allows management to bring in big-name acts to the Dallas suburb.

The expansion of Frisco's Dr Pepper Arena from 3,500 seats to 6,000 allows management to bring in big-name acts to the Dallas suburb .

The expansion is a joint project of the local school district, the city and the Dallas Stars, who use the arena as the team's practice facility, as well as running an NAHL franchise there. Team headquarters are located in the complex as well.

The reasoning behind the expansion wasn't purely hockey; it was the ability to bring in big-name acts. There's a plethora of competition in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on the venue front, and the expansion allows Frisco to bring in acts like Bill Cosby and the Harlem Globetrotters. In addition, the larger capacity is better suited for big community events, like high-school graduations.
