A hearing on a proposed Sacramento Kings (NBA) arena has been postponed to March 27, giving consultants a chance to work out their numbers.

The Kings and the NBA have proposed working with a private developer on a revamping of the Cal Expo fairgrounds, giving the Kings a new arena financing with tax-increment financing and private funds. The end result would be an arena surrounded by condos, office space and retail.

The hearing was pushed back to give the Cal Expo board time to bring in their consultants. The issue: the Cal Expo consultants say the arena plan relies on overly optimistic revenue projections. So it looks as though the Kings and the board are setting themselves up for a battle of the consultants.
