Good news for hoops fans at Auburn: the downsizing of its arena is ahead of schedule.
Auburn is replacing Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum with a new $92-million, 9,600-seat arena, and the new place is designed to be more intimate than the Coliseum on every level. The ceiling will be lower, forcing noise back to the floor quicker. Student seating is slated to be located closer to the court. The concourses will be open, allowing fans to view the action when they head to concessions. And a smaller second floor will hang over the court.
