Global Spectrum lands deal to manage Johnstown arena

A bidding process led Cambria County officials to name Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum as managers of War Memorial Arena.A bidding process led Cambria County officials to name Philadelphia-based Global Spectrum as managers of War Memorial Arena. The decision has the support of the owners of Roustan United, the owners of the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL), the main tenant in the facility.

Global, a Comcast subsidiary, will take over day-to-day operations of the arena, including ticket sales and concessions. The county will pay Global $100,000 annually for the deal.

The Chiefs forced the hand of Cambria County officials by demanding better management of the facility earlier this year, while other county officials argued the facility was underused. Part of the appeal of bringing in Global is their stated ability to bring in other events, such as concerts, to War Memorial Arena.
