The Falcons owners say they’ve lost more than $4 million since buying the team three years ago. All in all, 37 people will be out of a job: 27 players, three coaches and seven staff members. For the Canadian players, the situation is especially dire: if they cannot find another team to take them on (and we’re guessing the better players will get offers, though we’re guessing others may have to look to the CHL or even the SPHL for a gig), they face immediate deportation and no unemployment benefits.

The team had played at Selland Arena since November 2007 under a new 20-year lease after playing for five years at the Save Mart Center. The city of Fresno had made a $5 million dollars in improvements to Selland Arena to accommodate the Falcons.
