Hugh Lombardi, executive vice president of Powers Management, which manages Nashville’s Somnet Center, proposed keeping certain financial records secret, but withdrew the plan after objections from city officials.
The issue concerned the Somnet Center lease, which allows Powers Management to quality for up to $2 million in incentives from the city if it reaches certain standards in hosting and promoting events apart from Nashville Predators (NHL) games.
However, Lombardi says the standards for reaching those inventives is vague and had proposed a four-member committee meet in secret to determine whether the firm qualified for the incentive pay. That didn’t go over too well with Metro officials, who argued everything connected with the financials of city-owned Somnet Center be public.
