Regular readers recall the soap opera surrounding the Sarasota-area arena, now partially completed and waiting for someone to swoop in and take control of the project. Landlord Schroeder-Manatee Ranch took legal action to force developer Diaz-Verson Jr. to pay a $6.9 million first lien, and since then the bankruptcy court has tried several times to bring a closure to this saga.
Which, apparently, will not end any time soon. The Tampa-based bankruptcy court gave Diaz-Verson Jr. until Dec. 15 to make another $60,000 interest payment. If that payment doesn’t happen, the court will then move ahead and dismiss his case with prejudice. If he does come up with the $60,000, he will then appear before the court in January to present a full financing plan to finish the arena, at one point slated to be the home of an ECHL team.
