Additional work won’t delay opening of new Rapid City arena

Last-minute changes at the arena addition to Rushmore Plaza Civic Center won’t delay the opening of the season for the Rapid City Rush (CHL).

Last-minute changes at the arena addition to Rushmore Plaza Civic Center won’t delay the opening of the season for the Rapid City Rush (CHL).

These changes include a seal-coating of the concrete in the seating bowl, preventing the inevitable damage when fans spill corrosive soda. That change alone accounts for most of the $33,700 change order.

No increase will be needed for the project’s $24-million budget; the money will come out of the arena’s contingency fund.

The Rush’s first game is slated for Nov. 29.
