While the team has been a solid draw at the Kansas Coliseum with about 2,400 season-ticket holders and a decent corporate sponsorship base, the move to yield some immediate economic benefits. For starters, the team can draw some suite revenue from the building — something they’ve not been able to sell at the Coliseum. Second, they can expect some additional tickets sold (including some premium seats) at a new facility. And the concessions situation should be better as well.

There’s not been a lot of contentiousness surrounding the lease proceedings. No surprise: Intrust Bank Arena manager Chris Presson was formerly GM of the Thunder.

The team expects to begin the 2009-2010 season at the Coliseum, followed by a move to Intrust Bank Arena in January.
