City business leaders continue to look at a new arena for Quebec City — possibly as part of a Winter Olympics bid.
As Quebec City celebrates its 400th anniversary, city leaders are looking ahead to the next 400 — and that may include a new arena, according to area businessmen.
The Colisee, the former home of the Quebec Nordiques of the WHA and the NHL, is still a great venue and hosts junior hockey. But it’s not enough, especially for those who want to see a higher level of play in town.
Like Olympic hockey. Marcel Aubut, the former owner of the Nordiques, is among those who wants to see a new arena as part of a Winter Olympics bid for the 2018 or 2022 games. Obviously, we’re a long ways between any bidding for future games or groundbreaking on a new facility. But for those who follow potential future arenas, the talk out of Quebec City is positive.
