Over 110,000 expected at Michigan’s outdoor arena

University of MichiganThe Big House is being prepped for the outdoor game between Michigan and Michigan State Saturday, as a crowd of over 110,000 is expected at Michigan Stadium — setting a record for attendance at a hockey game.

These two teams were partly responsible for the craze in outdoor hockey; in 2001 the two teams played before an outdoor crowd of 74,544 at Spartan Stadium.

If everyone holding a ticket does indeed show up, the place will be full. And it will indeed shatter a record for attendance: reps from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand to verify. The current record: 77,803 showed up on May 7, 2010 to Veltins Arena for the opening game of the IIHF World Championships.
