The proposed $81.4 million arena could have the Kalamazoo Wings (IHL) and Western Michigan University sports teams as anchor tenants.
The planning group was originally planning on a final recommendation for an arena design and funding plan by the end of August, but that deadline was pushed back. To make the ballot — voters must approve the 1 percent hike in the local restaurant tax — the August deadline was essential.
