Over 700 local citizens signed a petition opposing the use of the local food and beverage tax to fund a new downtown arena.
The signatures were presented to the Evansville City Council, who didn’t take the petition too seriously; out of a city of 120,000, 700 signatures doesn’t seem like a lot.
The city is looking at a new downtown arena to replace Roberts Stadium.
