Wiens had been negotiating with the city of Kearney for a sale of the event center, valued between $2 million and $3 million. With a private investor in place, the city will end negotiations.
The USHL must still sign off on Brooks’ purchase of the team.
He’s buying the properties at a distressed values. The event center was originally built for $10.5 million in 2000; Wiens acquired it in 2004 for $3 million at a foreclosure auction.
