At a press conference called by the team, Bloomington PrairieThunder (IHL) owner Tim Leighton announced a contract extension for coach Jarrod Skalde, but didn’t address questions about the team’s future past announcing the team would be in business a year from now.

The tone was set at the beginning of the press conference, when Thunder director of media relations Bryan Bloodworth made this announcement:

“I want to make it clear we are not here to talk about, discuss or answer any questions regarding letters, leases, landlords or legal issues. We’re here to talk about the future of the PrairieThunder hockey organization.”

Of course, one could argue the future of the organization is wrapped up in letters, leases, landlords or legal issues. And with some electronic correspondence from the city regarding the team’s lease and a possible termination making the rounds — we’ve seen it,  and its existence has been verified by city officials — surely fans should be apprised of what’s happening behind the scenes to save hockey in Bloomington.
