Wichita’s Intrust Bank Arena hasn’t even opened, but local officials are upgrading the facility with a $1.7 million floor-seating system for concerts and events.
The upgrade is a variable-riser seating system, where sections on the floor of the arean can ben elevated. The system is geared for concerts and will replace folding chairs set up on the arena floor for concerts and events. It’s already being used in other arenas, including the new Tulsa arena.
The new arena is slated to open in 2010. It’s funded by Sedgwick County.
