A prime member of our endangered arenas list, Miami Arena is a white — or, rather, given its interesting design, pink — elephant, sitting on land too valuable to pass up for redevelopment.
So the demolition began yesterday when crews placed more than 100 rounds of explosives on the roof of the arena. The idea was to explode the roof so it could cave in. Meanwhile, the standing walls of the arena will be taken down in coming weeks.
