Port Huron to decide fate of arena management tonight

A proposal from the owners of the Port Huron Icehawks to manage McMorran Place will be decided by the city council tonight.
A proposal from the owners of the Port Huron Icehawks to manage McMorran Place will be decided by the city council tonight.

Under the proposal, Kinney Management Group — the owners of the IHL’s Icehawks — would enter into a four-year agreement to manage the facility. The city would pay Kinney $259,900 to manage the facility in the first year of the agreement, $91,500 in the second, and nothing in the third and fourth years. Kinney would pick up some of the repair and maintenance costs, with the city picking up any costs past $85,600.

The plan lowers the city subsidy to the arena, which is now 330,000 annually.
