Three downtown sites are eyed as possible locations for a new downtown Evansville (Ind.) arena, as the city evaluates a replacement for aging Roberts Stadium.

According to Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel, consultant HOK Sports is focuising on the D-Patrick Ford parking lot and possibly the Executive Inn, the Civic Center parking lot and a site around the Old Greyhound Bus station on Sycamore Street.

A recommendation on an arena site is expected before the end of the year. In addition, HOK will present options on financing the proposed 10,000-seat, $92-million arena. A minor-league hockey team and University of Evanville sports teams are expected to be the anchor tenants.
