Aiming to spruce up an aging arena built on the cheap and at the end of its economic functionality, the city of Minneapolis and the Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA) are proposing a $155-million makeover of Target Center, though a financial plan has not been finalized.
Sacramento is desperately working to come up with a new-arena plan in an attempt to keep the NBA's Kings in town, but huge issues remain with all four developer proposals.
Things are certainly up in the air in Sacramento, where the Maloofs now openly admit to looking at alternative homes for the Sacramento Kings (NBA) despite efforts from city leaders once again to find an arena solution; meanwhile, Arco Arena will be known as Power Balance Pavilion.
The National Basketball Association approved its purchase of the New Orleans Hornets from George Shinn and Gary Chouest, but the vote from the Board of Governors was not unanimous.
The Conseco Fieldhouse name will live on despite the brand disappearing from the marketplace, as officials with CNO Financial Group -- the new name for Conseco -- decide to keep the old name for now.
