LaPorte County to Consider New Arena

LaPorte, IN could take a closer look at a proposed arena project, which could be built to accommodate hockey. 

The county in Northwest Indiana will consider the proposal for a new venue that is being pitched by Paul Boardman. Boardman, who in the past has proposed a sustainable arena complex in Porter County, is the chairman of Lakeshore Family Sports.

Some details have not been made public at this point, but Boardman is could release more information about his proposal at by a county meeting on March 1. For now, officials are confirming that discussions have taken place and sound open to studying the project. More from The Times of Northwest Indiana:

“He’s been working on that for quite some time. He’s just looking for some cooperation from the county and other entities,” said Commissioner Mike Gonder.

Gonder said the arena could very well be a venue for some type of organized hockey games and other sports.

“He knows what he wants and he knows what he’s doing, so hopefully, something will happen,” said Gonder, who revealed at least one of the sites is along U.S 421 near Purdue Northwest.

LaPorte County has a population of more than 110,000, according to a 2015 census estimate.
