Milwaukee Bucks Hire Raj Saha

New Milwaukee Bucks arena

For some expertise as they develop their new arena, the Milwaukee Bucks are hiring Raj Saha, president of The Saha Group.

Saha is coming to the project with plenty of experience. He was involved in the implementation of the 2012 Olympic games in London, and has previously worked with both AEG and Madison Square Garden.

The project in Milwaukee is currently underway. Along with the downtown arena, the Bucks are planning a new training facility. Both are pieces in the much larger project that the Bucks are touting as an economic development driver in Milwaukee, one that could attract retail and dining options as well as new office space.

Saha’s involvement gives the Bucks an experienced executive who could help the arena during its planning phases, but some see his role extending beyond the development process. More from the Milwaukee Business Journal:

Saha, who several political observers expect to be named the new arena’s general manager, was involved in the staging of the 2012 London Olympics, the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He also served on the management team for The O2 arena in London. According to his LinkedIn page, he has also worked at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In Milwaukee, Saha will also work on developing a fan experience model for the new building to ensure all patrons in all areas of the building have a unique and memorable experience. He’ll also interface between internal staff and external experts on all physical spaces both inside the new arena and outside on the plaza to develop a strategic plan for fan engagement at the new venue.

The arena is expected to open for the 2018-19 NBA season.
