Amway Arena to be blowed up real good

Orlando MagicAmway Arena, the former home of the Orlando Magic (NBA), won’t be dismantled piece by piece and will instead come down in a bang via demolition.

The arena, which opened in 1989, will be blown up in March after work crews remove valuable scrap for reuse. The arena has been closed for several months, with most recyclable items (seating, etc.) already long gone.

The arena site has been tabbed for redevelopment. The Magic now play at Amway Center.

More from the Orlando Sentinel.
