Lehv new president of Dubuque Fighting Saints

Dubuque Fighting SaintsThe Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) are making a major addition to the front office, naming Dan Lehv, assistant GM of baseball’s St. Paul Saints, president of the Clark Cup-winning franchise.

Lehv is the new president of the Fighting Saints, which just completed its first season in the junior-level USHL on a successful note, winning the Clark Cup league championship. The 31-year-old Lehv beings a lot of Saints/Goldklang Group business experience to the Fighting Saints organization, serving as director of marketing for the Saints in 2004-2005 before being named director of sales and marketing in 2006. In 2008, he was promoted to Assistant GM.

Lehv’s responsibilities include overseeing the team’s marketing and advertising partnerships, branding and social media efforts, internal and external communications, selling and maintaining corporate sponsorships, negotiating food and beverage partnerships and coordinating the Saints internship program.

“Dan has proven himself to be a leader and a true professional in everything he’s undertaken, from broadcasting games during an earlier stop in his sports career to overseeing some of our most important partnership relationships,” said Marv Goldklang, Saints Chairman and Principal Owner.  â€œWe will miss not only his tangible contributions but, even more, his creativity and ever present sense of humor that has helped foster the free spirit atmosphere which has been a large part of who we are.”

As president of the Fighting Saints, Lehv will oversee all business operations for defending Clark Cup Champions. The Fighting Saints ownership includes Peter Chiarelli, GM of the Stanley Cup-winning Boston Bruins.

“The role with Dubuque would not be possible without the valuable time I’ve spent with the Saints,” Lehv said. “The opportunity with Dubuque is obviously an outstanding one to take me away from an organization that I love and will greatly miss. I can’t thank the Goldklang Group enough for these past 10 years.”

Prior to joining the Saints in December 2004, Lehv spent the previous three years with another Goldklang Group club, the Charleston RiverDogs (Low Class A; Sally League) where he served as the club’s Director of Media Relations and play-by-play broadcaster. In 2004, he was named South Atlantic League Media Relations Director of the Year.
