The doors to Sears Centre will remain open, as the facility will be manged by Ryan Cos. while Hoffman Estates (Ill.) officials interview potential management firms.
Four management firms -- AEG, Global Spectrum, SMG and VenuWorks -- were asked to submit bids for the management of the arena. A deal is expected to cost the city between $125,000 and $250,000.
The winning firm is expected to drum up business for the financially struggling facility. There's a glut of arenas in the greater Chicago arena, and Hoffman Estates is close enough to Rosemount to have Allstate Arena be a serious competitor. The winner is also expected to bring in touring shows and possibly minor-league hockey.
